Today's Assignment - You will be continuing your preparation for your book talks.
Activity 1:

- Click the link and read the requirements for the book-talk : Click Here
- Use Google to research your chosen book and author. Click Here
- Finish your book-talk worksheet. Make sure to edit your writing:
- Make sure to capitalize the first letter of every sentence.
- Make sure all proper nouns are capitalized.
- Make sure to capitalize every letter "I" (if you have uncapitalized "I", you will receive a zero until you fix the errors)
- Double check you have ending punctuation for every sentence.
- Make sure all sentences are complete (subject, verb, and complete thought)
- If you have two complete sentences connected with a FANBOYS, you need a comma before the FANBOYS
- When you are done with your book-talk worksheet, begin writing your speech. Follow the instructions in the first page of the file from #1.

- Fill out the chart for all three videos. If you don't get all the information from the videos, quickly read through the articles to get the missing info.
If you finish activity 1 - Complete the writing assignment (on the 2nd page).

For this activity, you will be doing online research to find information about the author of the book you have chosen to read in class.
Follow these steps:

- Follow the instructions from last week (see below) and finish your essay.
- Make sure you edit and revise your writing. You want to turn in your best possible writing.
- When you are done with your essay, please print it and turn it in. (If you are unable to print, click the share button and type in my last name: spaulding. Click on Christopher Spaulding and share your document with me.)
Activity 2:
For this activity, you will be doing online research to find information about the author of the book you have chosen to read in class.
Follow these steps:
- In chrome, open a new tab (press the plus button next to the tab you are in)
- Do a google search for the author of your book. (if you don't know your author, first search for the title of you book, find the author's name, and then search for that name.)
- Choose a website that looks professional (wikipedia is okay for this) and has a lot of information on your author.
- Using the information you find on the web, go to this google form and fill out the information. GOOGLE FORM
- Make sure to use complete sentences with correction grammar, punctuation, and conventions.
In The Lab - Day 1 - September 14th
Today's Assignment - Follow these steps:

- Click the following link to get to a google doc template: CLICK HERE
(To sign in, use your school email address: student#@salkeiz.k12.or.us Password: same as login to computer) - Go to "File" and click "Make a Copy"
- Call it "Lastname Period ELD 4 First Essay" and click "OK"
- On the top left side, type your name where it says "Your Name" (make sure to capitalize the first letter of your first and last name)
- Type today's date: Sept. 14, 2015
- Change the title to: First Essay
- Choose one of the following topics and write a two-paragraph essay
1. Imagine that your reader plans to visit your hometown or another place you know well. Write a couple of paragraphs about good things for visitors to do in that place.
2. Imagine you are writing a letter or email message to an old friend. Describe what is happening in your life now and what you plan to do in the future..
3, Think about a positive or a negative situation happening in the world—for example, a new medical treatment or a serious environmental problem. Explain why the situation is good, or why people are concerned about it. - Make sure to proofread and edit you essay
- You must print and turn in whatever you have finished at the end of class.
